what causes too much iron to be in the blood and what kind of diet is best too control it

Hemochromatosis is a condition in which too much iron builds up in the body.

Causes are hereditary (which is the common genetic disorders in white people ), too many blood transfusions, certain blood disorders (such as thalassemia), or chronic liver disease or from taking excessive or unnecessary iron supplements and very rarely due to diet containing too much iron.

Here are few diet tips:
Drink more tea and coffee especially after your meal due to which your body absorb less iron from the food.
Avoid iron which is commonly found in vitamin preparations, also avoid vitamin C pill but can take food containing vitamin C.
Avoid alcohol, quit smoking.
Avoid uncooked seafood.
Do not use iron cookware.

Talk to your dietitian for proper diet.
