Mostly the calf pull is short-lived but it may also bruise sometime and take several weeks for recovery. Here are few tips:
- Rest and keep it elevated for the first 24 hours to reduce swelling.
- Apply crushed ice or a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a thin towel to provide cold to the injured area for 15-20 minutes. Cold provides short-term pain relief and also limits swelling by reducing blood flow to the injured area.
- Compress the area by wrapping an ACE bandage around the swollen part. Compression helps limit and reduce swelling
